Fees for educational services related to the education of foreigners on full-time studies in the Polish language are not charged to:
- a foreigner - a citizen of a Member State of the European Union, the Swiss Confederation or a Member State of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) - a Party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area and their family members residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland;
- a foreigner who has been granted a permanent residence permit or a long-term resident of the European Union;
- a foreigner who has been granted a temporary residence permit due to the circumstances referred to in Article 159(1) or Article 186(1)(3) or (4) of the Act of 12 December 2013 on foreigners (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2020, item 35 as amended);
- a foreigner who has the status of refugee granted in the Republic of Poland or enjoys temporary protection or subsidiary protection on the territory of the Republic of Poland;
- a foreigner - a holder of a certificate certifying knowledge of Polish as a foreign language, referred to in Article 11a(2) of the Polish Language Act of 7 October 1999 (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 931), at least at the C1 language proficiency level;
- a holder of a Pole’s Card or a person to whom a decision on the determination of Polish ancestry has been issued;
- a foreigner who is a spouse, ascendant or descendant of a citizen of the Republic of Poland residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland;
- a foreigner who has been granted a temporary residence permit in connection with the circumstances referred to in Article 151(1) or Article 151b (1) of the Act on Foreigners of 12 December 2013, or who is staying on the territory of the Republic of Poland in connection with the use of a short-term mobility of a scientist under the conditions specified in Article 156b (1) of the aforementioned Act, or who holds a national visa for the purpose of scientific research or development work.
Change in funding rules after the start of studies
It is possible to request a change of study conditions in the course of study in the event of receiving a fee waiver document. You should contact Studies Organisation Department to request this.
NAWA scholarship
A foreigner may be exempted from fees if he/she has obtained a scholarship under one of the programmes of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).
Candidates who receive a scholarship from one of the programmes of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) (active link to NAWA website) are exempted from tuition fees on the basis of a decision of the Minister or NAWA Director.
Please note: if a student applies for and ultimately does not receive a NAWA scholarship and does not have other fee waiver entitlements, they will be required to pay tuition fees!
